Who we are.
Quotient is focused on providing high quality, high value immunohematology products to hospitals and blood banks around the world. Quotient offers more than 30 years of research, development and manufacturing of transfusion diagnostics products that traditionally have been sold worldwide either directly or by other major transfusion companies. We have offices in Edinburgh, UK; Eysins, CH; Newtown, PA; and Chapel Hill, NC.
How it all began.
Quotient's research & manufacturing subsidiary formerly traded under the name Alba Bioscience. Alba was originally established in Scotland in the 1940s to manufacture blood typing reagents as part of the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service. In addition to supplying its products throughout the Scottish National Health System, the company grew and expanded its offerings as an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) supplier to the world’s leading transfusion diagnostics companies. In 2007, it was privatized and became part of what is now Quotient.
Our primary strategic focus is to provide top quality, blood banking reagents directly to the manual user worldwide. Since 2009, Quotient has built a direct commercial infrastructure in North America and the United Kingdom, while Alba Bioscience continues to serve the OEM market. Quotient has over 200 products it manufactures and sells worldwide in over 30 countries.
The next phase for Quotient is its development project, MosaiQ™. This is an automated, multiplexed diagnostic platform for donor and patient blood testing utilizing a protein:protein microarray based on long established serologic reactions. The goal is to create single assay capable of incorporating antigen typing, antibody identification and viral screening. If successful, the MosaiQ™ project would consolidate what in today’s environment would require a number of automated platforms and manual testing into a single platform and single assay.
